Sleeping Aboard

Students may sleep, aboard during all onboard sailing classes and cruises.

Because we feel that a major part of cruising is being “on the boat,” we offer the ability to sleep aboard your class boat for any class that we offer, from the Intro to Sailing all the way through to our Docking classes.  If you are here for multiple classes in a row, we will do our best to keep you on the same boat, so that you don't have to move your gear off and on.

You can arrive the evening before your class and stay until your classes wrap up. However, sleeping aboard the boat isn’t just a place to put your head. You will be able to use the galley for cooking your breakfast and dinner if you choose (after the first day of class, please) and you have access to all of the amenities of our wonderful home marina - the pool, bathhouse, slip-holders lounge with coffee and microwave and even, if need be, a free washer and dryer.

Of course, you’ll also have the opportunity to bond with your class mates - often, lifelong friendships begin in the cockpit of a sail boat. We have plenty of parking near the school and you are welcome to come and go as you want, outside of class hours, but we do suggest that you stay near the boat during the dark hours. Getting around on a pier at night can be tricky to the uninitiated and you’ll want to be on the boat, preparing for your next day's activities.

When you register for a class, we will ask you if you want to "stay aboard" and when you will be arriving.  If you choose this free option, you’ll be given a bunk assignment and all the details you need to know to start your exciting stay.

We will point out that we have to do a "boat turnover" between classes.  Because of this, we do ask that you don't try to board before 6:00 on the evening before your class.  You can use the pool at the marina or go into town for dinner.  Also, we ask that you plan on boarding before 8:00 in the evening.  The marina can get very dark and wandering around on strange docks can be hazardous to your continuing dryness.  If you cannot be aboard by 8:00, we ask that you come in the morning of your class.
